At UYC, we believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Our clinicians have pursued training in a diverse range of evidence-based modalities to better support your healing journey. Please note that while our therapists are trained in these frameworks, every treatment plan is uniquely tailored to the individual client. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine the best approach for your specific goals, often integrating tools from multiple modalities rather than relying on just one.

What is the AEDP Framework?

Developed by Dr. Diana Fosha, AEDP is an evidence-informed model rooted in neurobiology, attachment theory, and emotion-focused principles.

Rather than focusing solely on intellectualizing or analyzing problems, an AEDP framework emphasizes helping individuals safely process emotions in real time alongside a supportive therapist. By experiencing difficult feelings within a secure therapeutic relationship, individuals can move through painful emotional states toward relief, self-compassion, and resilience.

How Is It Used In Therapy?

An AEDP-informed approach means incorporating experiential, emotion-focused principles alongside other established clinical frameworks.

Therapy is always individualized. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine the best approach or blend of interventions for your specific needs and goals. An AEDP-informed framework can be helpful for:

  • Processing painful or overwhelming emotions in a safe, paced environment.

  • Strengthening emotional self-awareness and mind-body connection.

  • Exploring attachment patterns and building relational security.

  • Cultivating a deeper sense of self-worth, resilience, and vitality.

Our Team & Approach

  • Integrative Practice: We draw from AEDP concepts as a supportive framework alongside other therapeutic approaches rather than offering certified, single-modality protocols.

  • Clinician Alignment: Select therapists on our team have a clinical interest in experiential and attachment-focused frameworks and draw from AEDP-informed principles to support their work with clients.

  • Client Matching: Because therapist backgrounds, learning interests, and clinical approaches vary across our practice, we encourage you to view our team profiles or connect with our intake team to find a practitioner whose approach aligns with your goals.
